We'll be in Burgundy in May and want to experience Burgundy wines and taste the grand crus and enjoy tastings and a nice lunch. We're thinking about Domaine Trapet, and perhaps Domaine Armelle Rion. Has anyone experienced these vineyards, tastings, table d' hotes? I'm planning to make advance reservations and thought likey two days of two wineries a day - one in the morning and one in the afternoon before heading to our home base south of Beaune. What other winery, vineyard experiences should we consider?

you should consider doing the tour of the Patriarche wine cellars underneath Beaune. You'll taste 3 or 4 whites and about 10 reds, so make sure you had something to eat!

Also, Rick has suggested DIY driving tours both north and south of Beaune, and also recommendations for minibus tours.
I recommend using Authentica Tours and let them show you the best vineyards, have tastings and enjoy lunch. They know the vineyards and wines inside out and have small group (8 people or less) tours or will customize a private tours for you. If you sign up with them, they take care of all of the logistics and transportation and make the tours so pleasant. All you have to do is relax and enjoy. www.authentica-tours.com
Yes, a day in a van with a good guide is a great day. A few tastings along the way, a few bottles to take home for the cellar. Plus, with a driver, you don't have to spit at the tastings.
