We are staying for 3 days in Colmar at the Hotel St. Martin. Does anybody know if there is a decent (yet cheaper than the €12 hotel breakfast) near the hotel.
Also........looking for advice on good restaurants in the Colmar area for dinner. Thanks folks Rick
Walk out of the hotel and turn right. Go to Rue Des Marchands and turn right again. This will take to toward the center of town. If memory serves correctly, there are a number of shops where one can get coffee, juice, and pastries if all you want is something light. There is also a small supermarket across the street from the hotel (Petit Casino) where you could get rolls, cheese, juice, and do it yourself. For dinner there are a couple of places across the street that are quite good -- nothing fancy, but you won't leave hungry.
Rick
you have put your question in the France Reviews Forum where people who have been somewhere write about their trip.
You could get more help in the France Forum, in the first column.
We eat very close to the ground, so can't give you a good answer. Sorry.
thanks for the thoughts. I will post a question on the France forum. Thanks Nigel
The covered market is a nice stroll from Hotel St Martin, where you can pick up a baguette, croissants, pain chocolate, and some fruit. There is a coffee shop there as well serving the same with a few places to sit down. A hot water pot is in the room or available at the desk so you can make tea or instant coffee. Be discrete bringing groceries to your room since you have to march past the desk and eating in rooms is generally frowned upon in France. Be tidy.
