PARIS Hotel - BMontmartre Hotel

In Clichy. Lovely staff. Hotel needs major room updating. Location not very desirable for sightseeing/shopping or dining. Common areas are very nice.

We stayed there recently on a Rick Steves tour, and found some good places to eat in the neighborhood. And there's a nearby Metro stop, handy for getting anywhere in Paris.

I will agree that we were not particularly impressed with the rooms, and yes, the common areas are very nice.

I was pleased with this hotel a year ago. Did all the rooms suddenly become outdated in that time? I found the location was actually quite good as it was near the metro station, plenty of restaurants and groc. stores nearby. I don't do "shopping" so I didn't really notice that.

By outdated I am referring to broken bath tiles, stained bed linens and brown colored mirrors on the walls.

This is the first hotel on my recently booked Rick Steves' PHOF tour. I want to arrive early for the tour but am having issues reserving the extra night. Various hotel booking services show rooms available for the needed date between $250- $300 depending on type of room. Emailing the hotel directly they quoted me 546 Euros, not dollars, for one night, for the most basic double room. This is supposedly with a RS discount, and the hotel's online reservation system does have the most basic double room listed at 607 Euros. Any ideas on why the hotel itself would charge double, for the same room type and same date?

Thanks for any help.

No real idea why it would charge double. If you can get it cheaper with a booking service go ahead and use the booking service.
How far away is your trip?

When we checked before our RS tour this year, the price quoted was 207 euros. Are you sure the price they gave you was for one night? We ended up opting for a cheaper hotel in the 7th, though.

Did you try this:

You can book directly on-line on our official website www.b-montmartre.com Special Rate using code : RICK
Just add in comment during the reservation: "with Rick Steve's Group"

That instruction was in the email we received from them when we inquired.

I have stayed there 3 times total. No complaints.

First was part of the RS Heart of France tour. The parts of the hotel I saw all were clean, nicely appointed and showed no abnormal signs of wear and tear. The staff couldn't have been nicer or more willing to provide the things we needed including even supplying us with plates and cutlery when we brought back a roasted duck for dinner one night from another restaurant (they did not serve any meals other than breakfast at the time). Really like the AC.

Other times I stayed there more recently also totally enjoyed my stay. No issues with anything being dirty or stained or broken. Only complaint was the most recent time I was there I had difficulty getting what I wanted for breakfast which is mainly due to my not knowing the French language better.

Thank you for the replies. Our trip isn't until spring 2020, so we might wait a couple more months to book the hotel and also look at other options in the same area. Reception mentioned how to book online with the same discount code. On the hotel site, the night we need is 607 Euros without and 546 with the discount. Most of the nights have a rate of around 200 Euros, until May 2020 and then they suddenly jump to 600+ Euros. Thanks again.

SCoakley, you may be a victim of the calendar. Wait another month or so, then try again. We had exactly that same experience with one of the tour hotels this past year - the price many months out was way more than was reasonable, or seasonable. The algorithm often used can only work within a certain time frame.

Jane, you were correct about the calendar and nights in June now have a much better rate. Thank you for the suggestion.
