Best Paris hotel location

We just returned from Paris where we stayed at the Timhotel, Palais Royale and found that it is a great location and value-about 4 blocks from the Louve and the metro in Arrondissement 2 and you walk through the Palais Royal gardens as a shortcut to the metro, Louve, etc.
It certainly isn't luxurious but good beds and clean. The hotel web site is very helpful.
Also found that the museum "Musee Carnavalet" is 90% closed for the next 2 years.
