Best area/arrondissement to stay with young children?

Hi, taking our 2 year old and 5 year old to Paris early May for 4 nights. What is the best arrondissement to stay in for a family? Looking for some place safe and convenient. Husband and I have been to Paris before but it was pre-kids and a long time ago!

Thanks so much for your input!

I agree, Luxembourg Gardens in the 6th is great for kids. But so is the Champ de Mars in the 7th, and there you have the added bonus of the Eiffel Tower right there. You could stay on or near Rue Cler (well covered in Rick's books) which is a fun market street.

With two young children, another votre for accommodations near lovely Luxembourg Gardens. With a playground, pony rides and room to run, it's a really nice spot for little people. They might enjoy watching Parisian children sail boats on the basin (these can also be rented). Good place for a picnic too: just not in areas marked "Pelouse interdite” (Keep off the grass).

You can’t beat the the Louvre area no matter what the age. The Tuileries are extensive and open with wide allées to run through, a huge fountain basin to splash your hands, benches for resting, ice cream vendors, one of the world’s great museums with every kind of construction to fascinate your children - our 4-year-old ran up up the stairway to the winged victory SCREAMING “”This is beautiful!” The 6 year old wanted to know what would be the most expensive piece and kept a mental catalog.
Stay across the Seine at the Hotel du Quai Voltaire. The three bed room will be perfect. You all can look out at the passing boats and cars, you quietly enjoying an aperitif while the kids take their baths.
The service is cheerful and very professional. The staff will get you what you need, from a taxi to the bateaux mouches to the best place for a pony ride.
You will love it!
