train from Helsinki Airport to Lahti

In English the airport station is called Helsinki Airport (Finnish: Helsinki Lentoasema, Swedish: Helsingfors Flygplats).

When is this trip and where is your husband looking for trains? You'll find all information you need at www.vr.fi. Lahtis is part of the local train network in the area so you don't need to buy anything in advance.

I just checked Google Maps and it has good directions. I just entered Helsinki Airport to Lahti.

The train station at the airport is a bit of a walk but not at all hard to find.

The walk to the train station depends on where you are flying in from. There are two separate areas...one for domestic and intra-Schengen flights and one for all others. The train station is below the area for domestic and intra-Schengen flights. I've been through a few times. If arriving from outside Schengen then you will have a walk to the train station.

Thanks for the responses. I found most of the information i need online, but still need to check a few things.

We are arriving from JFK airport, NYC, May 23rd. I saw one post mentioned a walk through the airport to get down to the train station. I also know that we will need the train that would take us to Tikkurila, then switch trains to get the one into Lahti. I see we would need the airport P train to get to Tikkurila; then the Z commuter train to get to Lahti.

I'm going to check the english version of the train system to hopefully get more information. I want to know prices, and if we would need to purchase separate tickets for the Z commuter train, or can we get everything before boarding the airport P train to Tikkurila.

The above website shows you that the through fare is 14.10 Euro or 21.90 or 23.90 for those departures where the second train is a faster inter city service.
