Hello, all travelers. Would like to spend two days in rovaniemi in august. There will be six of us traveling and my question is, would renting a car be the best way to visit rovaniemi? We will visit santa claus village and can someone on the forum suggest a few must visit places? Thank you all in advance.

A six-passenger van could cost as much as two economy cars. Try a price quote though Auto Europe to see what's available in Helsinki, if that's where you'll start. Train/bus connections from Helsinki to Rovaniemi take 11-13 hours and 1-2 connections by day, or there's a direct overnight train. www.vr.fi offers discounts for advance purchase and for seniors aged 65+. Or a railpass for Finland starts at $200 per person for 3 travel days within a month and could be a good value if you have a use for the third day (sleeper reservation or optional seat reservations cost extra).
