Recommendations for cross country skiing lodge.

We are looking to go
To Finland in December, but could also go deeper into the winter. We are are Nordic skiers and would like to stay in a 4 or 5 star lodge. Appreciate recommendations. Thank you

Where and when? December might be a bit early and you might need to travel far north for a reliable snow cover.

Have you decided where in Finland you want to go? There are a few different areas apart from Ylläs (the best known). Here's a useful page from the Visit Finland website. We too are nordic skiers and have skied in Montana (Lone Mountain Ranch), Colorado (Devil's Thumb ranch) and also the Adirondacks (Garnet Hill). We have skied many times in Norway near Lillehammer but so far have not been to Finland, put off by the very cold temperatures and short days. However, we are very likely to go in 2026 or 2027 with our Finnish friends who favour Saariselkä. My Finnish friends tend to go in March for the longer days and warmer day time temperatures, but still reliable snow (no need for klister!). In December that far north you will not have much in the way of day light.

Sorry I can't help with specific accommodation options, but in my experience of travel elsewhere in Finland (and Norway), the luxurious lodges that one finds readily in the US are not really to be found in Finland.
