My dad (90) wants to travel to Finland with me this summer. Two years ago we caught an opera in Savonlinna; this time he’s proposing that we attend the Pori Jazz Festival. However, based on the lineup of artists, that seems a bit of a misnomer; there’s some jazz, but also lots of pop music, which is not to his liking at all.
Is it worth being in Pori during the festival (we have a relative who just moved there)? Apparently there’s music happening all over town, not just in the festival area; can anyone confirm? Or would we better off visiting at another time to avoid high hotel rates?
If he does want to go to Pori during Pori Jazz, I may insist on staying in Rauma instead, since it’s a nice town and rooms are a lot cheaper. Thoughts?
