Helsinki Tram Tour-Route Changes

If you are visiting Helsinki this year and considering the Tram Tour (RS Scandanavia 2024, pages 722-725), be aware there are tram route changes. A stretch of the tram line is under construction, traffic has been rerouted, and you can't complete the tour as a loop. Maps showing current tram routes are posted at every stop; I haven't checked but it's likely the map is also posted on the HSL website.

I haven't taken time to figure out a work-around to share (we used the hit-and-miss method; it worked out but I wouldn't want to confuse someone else!). We were using a 24 hour transit pass so didn't have to be concerned about getting on and off several trams to get back to our hotel. And, being May 1 and the "Vaapu" holiday in Finland, our tram rides were quite entertaining:).

I have submitted the information to the RS staff but want to get it out there for anyone who might be headed to Helsinki in the near future.

Just came here to say this! We are enjoying Helsinki but the tram tour cannot be done in a loop as printed due to major construction in two locations until Nov or Dec 2025.

After #5 (opera) all trams turn right above Töölonlahti and head out of town, and while there are some other trams (9b, 6, 7b) that could get you near #8 there is no tram connection between #8 and #9 currently. You can still have a great time riding the trams around with a day ticket though!
