I am traveling with 2 other adults from Helsinki to Turku by car in Sept for a day trip. Are there suggested stops along the way or should we go directly there and back?
You could visit Fiskars Village (a design village) on the way to Turku. It's well worth a visit. But if you only have a day you would maybe prefer to get directly to Turku? It's a nice town with a good castle and cathedral and some lovely cafes and restaurants by the river.
I agree that Turku is worth a full day and that should be your priority. And I'd suggest taking the train instead of driving.
Thank you for your replies.
Why would you recommend the train over driving?
Faster, cheaper, easier and more comfortable. If you're going from city to city, why would you even consider driving?
I agree with the previous posts. Turku is worth at least a full day and by far the easiest way to get there from Helsinki is the train.
Thank you everyone! Train and Turku it is.
I was in Turku a few weeks ago. I took the train from Helsinki. Nice town to visit.
If interested, I stayed at the Solo Sokos Hotel Turun Seurahuone. Very nice and centrally located.
