We will be staying in Helsinki early August and want a hotel that offers good WiFi, updated rooms in a convenient location. Free parking would be a plus.

I'm currently at the Hotel Indigo. This is my second time here. Great location, walkable to a great deal, tram stop just outside the door.
Wifi is very good. Everyone is friendly and speaks fluent English. Breakfast is pricy but there are numerous cafe's within a couple of blocks. There is also a laundromat less than five minutes away.
Not sure about parking.
The only negative is that the A/C doesn't work great in some of the rooms. And since it was almost 80 degrees here today, it can get warm. They will give you a fan. The lowest I can get it is to about 72 degrees. But since they gave me a free upgrade and free breakfast, I really can't complain.

We stayed at Hotel St George a few weeks ago and it was lovely. Very, very central but quiet. Lovely views over the park opposite and food/drinks excellent. I don't know about parking as we didn't have a car - contact them to ask.
