We plan to be in Helsinki later this year and would appreciate recommendations for a place to stay--hotel or airbnb. If you stayed somewhere post-covid lockdowns we would appreciate new information as we've discovered changes in service since there are so many staffing shortages everywhere. We will not have a car so walkable area is appreciated. Thanks in advance--
Pre-COVID we were all set to stay in Hotel Indigo in the design district as recommended by a European friend who stayed in Helsinki frequently. Post-COVID we haven't gotten to Finland yet. But when we do we will stay in Hotel Indigo as they were really easy to deal with when we had to cancel our trip in April 2020.
The entire city is walkable, so nothing to worry about there. And as long as you stay somewhere south of Hesperiaesplanaden I'd say you are in a decent location. But if you are staying a bit further out, you might want to make sure you are close to a tram stop or metro station.
