Helsinki ad Lahti visit last 10 days of May

Hubby and running partner are participating in an Ultra Marathon in Lahti May 25. Then on to Helsinki for 6 days.
We have accommodations already set for Lahti. I'm investigating train travel from Helsinki to Lahti and back. If anyone has been to Lahti and can make suggestions for low key sightseeing, please do.

Looking for suggestions for hotels in Helsinki. For the most part, this forum has never disappointed with excellent suggestions for hotels in various countries around Europe. Looking for hotels in Helsinki that aren't super pricey but offer good beds, quiet, and possibly include breakfasts, and are convenient to public transportation and sightseeing.

Also suggestions for sightseeing in and around Helsinki and restaurants.

I'm investigating train travel from Helsinki to Lahti and back.

I don't know how much investigation is needed, it takes about an hour by local train. You can see the schedule and prices at www.vr.fi

Regarding hotels, Scandic is a good mid range chain in northen Europe. Their Hotel Marski in the central city can be worth looking at, at the corner of Mannerheimsvägen and Lönnrotsgatan (both streets named after important Finns, Carl Gustaf Mannerheim and Elias Lönnrot), and just behind the Swedish Theatre it is in a very central location with most of the inner city within walking distance. And a tram stop just outside the hotel.
