Finland train reservations

Hi. I am looking at making reservations on the Finland VR train for night train from Helsinki to Rovaniemi. When I select April 7 for my departure date it then shows an outbound date of April 8. It’s a bit confusing. Please reply if you have experience with booking online reservations on the night train from Helsinki to the Laplands. If I book my departure date of April 7 why does the site show April 8 date for outbound? I want to arrive in Rovaniemi in the morning on April 8. Thanks for any advice.

That is very strange, when I try to make a booking everything works fine. There is a night train that leaves Helsinki on the 7th, Intercity 265 that departs 19:29 and arrives next morning in Rovaniemi.

I suggest trying a different browser. Can't hurt. If it doesn't help, try a different device (tablet or smartphone instead of PC, or vice versa). It sounds silly, but sometimes switching out the browser or the hardware gets around the website problem.

Try playing aorund with using the "arrow" to change date back/forward until you get the Thursday 7.4 departure date. If you pick We 6.4 you will get Thursday 7.4 trains:

You will see a bit of scenery from the night train, which is a lot more than if flying. And it will also save you a bit of money, not to mention it is a much better option for the environment.

Our train journey from Helsinki to Kajaani was comfortable but the scenery was mostly a lot of trees. (I suppose that that's why the train has wi-fi.

Nothing against trees but as a past American President was reported to say: "If you have seen one tree you have seen them all". https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/if-youve-seen-one-tree/

Moon phase April 8 is less than a quarter: https://www.timeanddate.com/moon/finland/helsinki?month=4

PS If the sky is clear, a morning flight to Sana's village will be a white landscape. Hope you don't need Ruldorf's nose to guide your flight.
