A friend and I will spend four days in Helsinki in mid-May, 2024. We would like to take a couple of day trips out of the city. We welcome suggestions. Thanks.

Tallinn is the obvious answer to that question. If you want more detail, you need to tell us a bit more about what you are interested in and what you are looking for.

We will have already been to Talllin, Vilnius and Riga. I have been to Helsinki before and would like to venture out to some other Finnish towns / sights.

Porvoo is a lovely town to the east of Helsinki. You can get there by boat which also enables you to see some of the archipelago on the way there. You can come back the same way or take a bus.

You haven't really told us what you're looking for, but Ekenäs is a nice place if you're looking for some small town charm, roughly 1:20 away by train.

I liked both Porvoo and Ekenas, but I spent 7 days just seeing Helsinki. It has lots of interesting museums and much Art Nouveau architecture, both things I enjoy.
