Hello, I have a couple questions about the rules on bringing medicines into Finland.
The Tulli website says one can bring up to a year's supply of medicine from another EU/EEA country, or up to three months' supply from another country. If I'm a citizen of a non-EU/EEA country and originally got the medicine from my home country, but I'm flying in from another EU/EEA country and I have a residence permit to be in Finland, does anyone know what restrictions would apply (or where I might find information about this)?
The Tulli website says when we arrive in Finland, we're supposed to choose a "channel" based on whether we have anything to declare, and the red channel is for those who have goods to declare. The site says "If you choose the green or blue channel, but customs officers find goods in your possession that are subject to tax or under import restrictions or prohibitions, then Customs can detain or seize such goods. You may have pay double tax on the goods or may be suspected of a customs offence." This seems to suggest any item subject to restriction must be declared, which seems to mean any quantity of medicine must be declared, however small the quantity, because medicine is subject to restrictions. Is this correct? It just seems surprising to me, as I thought most people didn't go through the red channel, and I'd think far more people would go through the red channel if that were actually the policy (at least if it were commonly enforced), because I'd think a lot of people would have medicine.
Here's the website (relevant parts on pages 3 and 7): https://tulli.fi/documents/2912305/4276878/Customs%20advice%20for%20travellers/dbd84a68-a267-4399-a3a4-3abc53625457/Customs%20advice%20for%20travellers.pdf?version=1.10&t=1635933158741
Thanks everyone in advance!
