I'll be in Helsinki November 10-12 and am thinking of taking a day trip to Tallinn. I've read that the old town will be virtually empty this time of year. Is this true? I'm a solo 38-year old female, so visiting a city when it's empty doesn't sound super appealing to me. I feel safer when there's more activity.
I would interpret this to mean that there will be very few tourists. I would expect the locals are still going to go about their daily business
Solo female here, and while I haven't been to Tallinn in November I have gone in late April and late September when it hasn't been overwhelmed with tourists and I did not feel unsafe at all. It's a lovely, magical, old town to explore and having less people around made it a better experience for me.
Christa, thank you for your feedback. This is good to hear. It looks like a lovely city.
