Food in Tallinn

Planning a day trip from Helsinki in March was wondering if anyone had any good dinner places to recommend in Estonia?

I'm looking for something with Estonian or Russian cuisine that has some charm.

Thanks!

I will be doing the same thing in June. In RS's Scandinavia book, he lists two restaurants that peaked my interest - Rado Tallinn and Rataskaevu 16.

Although I haven't eaten at Rataskaevu 16, it was pointed out and recommended by the guide for my walking tour of the city in 2023. I see it still has a very high rating.

I ate at Rataskaevu 16, recommended by my apartment hostess (edit * September 2024). I absolutely loved it and I rarely recommend restaurants. Also very close is their sister restaurant Väike-rataskaevu, with basically the same menu. Either is wonderful. But you should have a reservation. Neither is large.

Another edit: I also ate at Olde Hansa and it was also good.

We ate at Rataskaevu 16 this past July. It was delicious and definitely recommend! You will need reservations.

Another vote for Rataskaevu 16, we had lunch there and it was very good. No reservation needed, they had some tables outside. Maybe we got lucky, but in the early afternoon there was no wait.
