Baltics coastal trip

Will you have a car or are you relying on public transportation?

The bus network in the Baltics is much more extensive than the rail network. And some of the buses are very comforatble and nice.

In Lithuania, Klaipeda is on the water and is the third largest city in the country.

I will rely on buses/trains, yes.

I traveled around using Lux Express.

Very comfortable, restroom on board, free tea and coffee ( self service), wifi, a/c.

For a few dollars more you can travel in comfort class. Bigger seats more legroom.

You can get to the major cities by train but not necessarily directly.

Lux Express, Flix Bus, Eurolines are options to travel the Baltic coast. Train connections are limited.

In Lithuania, we have amazing Curonian Spit.

Cannot comment on public transport, as we had a rental, but we did precisely such a tour in August 25.
Klaipeda has already been mentioned, with nearby curonian split (bus should work good, we saw a lot of them. Our car was overpriced). Next along the coast is Palanga - nice beach, rather touristy town. Behind the border in Latvia is Liepaja - less touristy, bigger, with the softest white sand I have ever seen, including the one we had in the Caribbean. There we turned east, so I can’t comment on further north like Ventsplis.
The beach town around Riga is Jurmala - easily reachable, can be really crowded. In Estonia, we were only in Pärnu regarding coastal towns. Nice, but not „beachy“ in and of itself.

Btw: Flying into one country and departing in another is really easy.

And should you decide on a car, there was no large fee for picking up in one country and dropping in another for us. Doing all three is so popular that they seem to count almost as one in that regard: the one we picked up in Lithuania was Estonian, so we just brought it back…
