Hi All,
I’m interested in your suggestions on which London airport to arrive into from Zurich. It will be a mid-week flight, followed by a rental car pick up and heading west towards Bath and beyond. I’d like to return the car to the same pickup location a week later before going into central London for a stay. Thanks.

Well first choice wouldn’t be London at all but Bristol, which is a short drive from Bath (but is a more interesting city anyway). Obviously you couldn’t then return the car to the same airport easily.
If you want to have the same airport to drop the car off then Heathrow makes most sense, given it is to the west of London.
The best airport to transit by far is City, but that makes no sense for then driving to Bath.

Thanks for your advice John. I thought Heathrow might make sense but have heard from others that it’s a pain to get through.

Heathrow can be a bit of a pain to get through, it is a large airport. But the other London airports are in so much worse locations. But I agree that Bristol would be the best option. Swiss has direct flights from Zürich to Bristol and if one of those flight suit your schedule it will save you a lot of time.

and then return the car to Bristol with an easy train ride to Paddington ready for the Tube or Elizabeth Line or one of many London buses.
