Z Hotel Bath Review. Recommend hotel in Bath. Luggage storage provided at Bath Spa train station?

Hello fellow travellers,

Please share your reviews of Z Hotel Bath. How is breakfast? nice? Expensive? It says that it is 5-10 mins walk away from Bath Spa train station. Luggage storage provided at Bath Spa train station? Can Middle-sized luggage fit into luggage storage at Bath Spa train station?

Weekends stay is very pricey for Z Hotel Bath which i find it hard to believe. Please recommend any hotel in Bath.

Thanks.

There is a SACO apart hotel quite neat the station, which was very comfortable.
Bath is a weekend destination, hence the cost.

I liked the No. 15 Guesthouse Bath on Putney. They have a free service where someone meets you at the train station to take your luggage. This allows you to hit the ground running to start exploring. The hotel has a free pantry so you can grab snacks and drinks. I recommend getting a rate that includes breakfast because it is very good. An added bonus is that one of the main characters in Bridgeton "home" is just down the street so you can check it out.

Wow! How nice! Unfortunately, it is fully occupied on that certain date. :(

SACO apartment hotel? I cannot find it online. You mean SACO Bath - St James's Parade? If yes, it is fully occupied. :(
May i know how much it cost?

I stayed at the Premier Inn Bath City Centre in May. It was fine; I would stay there again. It was about a 10 minute walk from the train station.

I loved the Indigo hotel in Bath. Definitely only a (flat) 5 minute walk from the railway station. We had no problem wheeling our bags to the hotel from the station. The rooms are very nice and the breakfast was amazing. No road noise either (our room was at the back), the hotel is on a quiet road.

The fact that two other recommended places to stay were full explains why the room rates for the Z hotel on weekends are high - simple demand.

Haven’t been to the one in Bath but have stayed at many other Z hotels.

Small rooms but expertly laid out. Definitely not the place for a romantic getaway.

Never had a particularly memorable breakfast there but the urban ones are always close to many options. The only time I’ve had breakfast at a Z is when they’ve given it to me for free.

They’ll likely have an afternoon wine and cheese reception which I quite like.

J@p28al, can you rearrange your stay in Bath so you're not there on a weekend?
It will make it easier to find a hotel with a room available at a cheaper price.

Sometimes when we think we have our itinerary planned, we have to juggle things around. My husband and I do a lot of rearranging when making a trip plan for England.
Can you rearrange your schedule so that you hit Bath mid-week?

You don't give the specific date you're hoping to stay in Bath, but if it's this year, know that a lot of major events throughout 2025 are planned to celebrate the 250th birthday of Jane Austen.
https://visitbath.co.uk/inspire-me/literary-bath/jane-austen-bath

The busiest time will be during the Jane Austen Festival, Friday 12th to Sunday 21st September 2025. This will be the height of the fun and largest crowds.

If your itinerary puts you in Bath at these times and you are not wanting to be there specifically for these events, I would say, avoid Bath.

Can you put it in somewhere in your itinerary at a later date when hotels are showing vacancies and reasonable prices?

That's the one. A three night weekend in January 2022 was £363.

I will be going there in October. Should be cheaper but I'm surprised to see the higher price of other hotels.
I managed to secure that cheaper hostel for only one night.

Oh yes, i decided to omit Jane Austen from my itinerary because i read someone else' comment on Jane Austen somewhere here. The one said Jane Austen is a waste of time.

If you have decided that you don't want anything to do with Jane Austen - one of the premier authors; have you read any of her work?? - then why do you want to go to Bath in the middle of a festival celebrating her anniversary?

Nigel, I go to Bath to see the Roman Baths and Bath Abbey and the Circus and the Royal Crescent.

Huh? Her festival is in September. Please read my post carefully. I will be there in other month and on weekend. Thank you.

It looks like you've found a hotel. Just for future posting, it helps people to help you if you provide exact dates for your intended stays. They can make a very big difference in pricing and availability, as was pointed out by Dutch_traveler in your post about accommodations in Brussels:

As you’ve found out already, room rates are very much date dependent.
So without knowing when you want to stay in Brussels exactly, it’s
difficult to give specific advice.

While the biggest Austen festival occurs in Sept - and in Nigel's defense - the Bath website states that related events run from "January all the way through to the big day itself on 16 December." So, there will be bookworms coming to explore Jane's former home outside of the Sept. fest, and there are other events in October too, such as the Children's Literature Festival, walking tours, weekend rugby matches, Bath Autumn Fayre, Bath Oktoberfest, etc. etc. (see the Bath event calendar linked below). so no surprise, really, that weekend pricing be might be higher and many hotels already booked.

Thanks, Kate.

And I was referring to the big blowout all year. Bath is always busy, this year much more than others.

And, yes, I did read every word of the OP's words before posting.
