york minster and tower

hi all:

we are visiting York minster on a saturday morning in August - it doesn't look like it is possible to buy tickets in advance?

We want to climb the tower -do they give you a time when you arrive? We plan to get there when they open at 9am - we have to catch at train around 12:30 (and were hoping to pick up lunch for the train) - do you think this will be enough time?

We have boys 10 and 12 with us - so we will probably not spend a ton of time looking around, they have a short attention span. :)

Given that your u are getting there early I think you should be fine. Once inside you will find the tickets for the tower towards your right. They are timed but hopefully your early arrival will get you up quickly! 15 minutes at the top is plenty of time. Seeing the rest of the church can easily be done in 30 minutes or so. Making your 12:30 train should be no problem...take time to walk through the shambles as well!
