York B&B Christmas week

I will be staying in York this Christmas 12/23-12/27 and am finding the suggested Rick Steves' B&B's are closed for the week. Does anyone have any suggestions or experience with this? It is looking more and more like the suggested Travelodge may be one of the few choices.

Thanks in advance,
-Thomas

The UK respects the concept that Christmas should be spent with family so most everything is shut down. Public transport, restaurants, stores, etc. Probably best to reserve a room at the Travelodge or check this website to see if there are B and B's that accommodate holiday visitors. http://www.visityork.org/book/

Just came back from York, and we stayed at the Abbyfields Guest House. It was fabulous. The room was very roomy for England, Europe. The owners Al and Les were so friendly and so helpful with anything we needed. They serve the best breakfast I have ever had in Europe!

Looks like you're smart to reserve the room now and probably also should reserve ahead for dinner, in order to have a plan (but not 6 months ahead). Thanks, Claudia, for relevant link.

They may be closed that week, but I stayed at the Montclare b&b near Gillygate in York about month ago. Can highly recommend.
