York and Durham UK

Does anyone know about day trips and day tours from York to Durham and to Hadrian's Wall. We are considering spending a week in York in May 2015. We would like to see York and Northeaster England using public transportation. Thank you for your help.

I can't speak to Hadrian's Wall but I'm sure there are tours from York. As for Durham it's a short train ride, less than an hr, so easy to do by yourself.

If you are just doing tourist things in York...I think 2 days is enough to see the worthwhile sites in town. Durham is certainly worth the visit for the evocative Cathedral and is far enough away that you should spend an overnight... you could easily visit parts of Hadrian's Wall from there. There are other World Heritage sites in the York area that are worth a visit such as Fountain's Abbey. Castle Howard is a good day trip from York.
