We have been looking at these three companies and can’t decide which tour or which tour company to use. Any advise would be appreciated. We are considering Grand Yorkshire cause the group is smaller but are still not sure. We like to have a bit of time to explore on foot and they all seem to have some of that. We want to see countryside and small villages. We love, love the James Herriot books but don’t know how important that is in this decision.
The companies are:
Grand Yorkshire
Mountain Goat
Bob’s
Thanks!
All get good reviews, so it probably doesn't make much differfence which you choose...
Hi -
I’ve suggested all three of these companies in the past (note, not ‘recommended’, as being local to the area, I’ve never had occasion to use them) and they all offer similar trips. Note that Bobs and Grand Yorkshire offer Herriot specific tours. If you are particularly wanting to see some of the locations in the recent and previous versions of ACGAS, be sure to choose those. If the weather cooperates, then you can’t go far wrong - it's largely all small villages and countryside. I’m biased of course but my home dale of Wharfedale is particularly lovely.
Hope you have a great trip!
Ian
I took tours with both mountain goat and bob’s last year. Loved them both. I wrote briefly about them in my trip report:
I would take both tours again, but would give the slight edge to the bob’s tour. I loved Grassington so much. After visiting the dales, I went home and watched all creatures great and small and am now a huge fan of the show.
You can’t go wrong with either. Have a great trip!!
Thanks everyone for these replies. They were very helpful. We decided to go with Grand Yorkshire on the All Creatures Tour. It sounds wonderful (as do the other companies) and group size is up to 6.
Carrie I read your trip report and it was great! Thanks for including the link to it!
We booked the tour yesterday and now I see that several of the tour dates have filled up. So I am glad we did it and suggest people book early if you know when you want to go.
