Yet another question about where to stay

Looking for a hotel that is no more than $300 per night in August and one that allows for easy transit to and from Heathrow and also from Waterloo Station. I'm thinking something around Paddington but not sure how easy it is to access central London from there. Help!

If you want to be near Waterloo station why not stay near there? It’s fairly straightforward to get from Heathrow, it’s very central for general sightseeing and there is plenty of accommodation available. Paddington makes no sense in this case.

Well, my first thought is the Premier Inn County Hall, which would definitely be less than $300, and is only a short walk from Waterloo Station. I stayed there in early 2024 (late March) and paid £170 (approx) for a Premier Plus room. It's a chain hotel based in the UK, but is consistently comfortable and clean with good service and great beds that are very comfortable. This one is located south of the Thames (it's close to the London Eye), so you can easily walk across the Thames and be right in Westminster in about 10 minutes. And you can get to Heathrow pretty easily from there as well.

If you want to stay by Paddington, there is a PI there as well—the Premier Inn London Paddington, which is close to Paddington Station, and has the same amenities as the County Hall location. In fact, you will find them all over London. https://www.premierinn.com/gb/en/home.html

Paddington is several miles from Waterloo. The Premier Inn County Hall is near Waterloo and would be well within budget assuming you are talking about US dollars.

We stayed around the corner from Paddington Station, and it was very easy to get around from there, because more than one tube line, as well as the airport train line, all intersect at Paddington. It was also a short walk from there to Hyde Park.

This is where we stayed: https://www.tudorcourtpaddington.co.uk/ It was simple, but comfortable, affordable, and convenient. The owners were nice and the breakfasts were good.

Haven’t been there yet but we just booked the Premier Inn Country Hall (plus room) for 9 nights in June based in part on recommendations on this site and its convenient location. The price seems to change quite a bit even from day to day within our stay but the average for our 9 night stay is $300/night so certainly more than off-season but still within your budget. It was still a good rate compared to many other places.

well as the airport train line,

Don’t forget the Elizabeth Line also connects LHR with Paddington but has the advantage of going to other places.
