WWI Centennial

Greetings-

The two of us are contemplating a trip to England/Belgium/France for the Centennial of the First World War. We are aware of a few things to see or do relative to the Centennial. The Imperial War Museum will reopen in July with new galleries. We hear that the Last Post ceremony in Belgium (France?) is a must. What else is happening that would be of interest for the subject? Centennials happen but once and this one is important. We want to make the best of it. Many thanks.

Dave, I searched all over and couldn't find much more on centennial events other than what Keith has already mentioned. You could try contacting the Tourist Information office of France

Here is a link I found on events in Belgium

Here is the contact information for the French Government Tourist Office.

Since, we are going to be there, I happen to know about an exhibition at Woburn Abbey. Following is the information: There are two new exhibitions opening on the 11th April, when our main Summer season starts and the Abbey reopens for visitors. The first, 'Valiant Hearts: World War I - Woburn and its Stories' commemorates the centenary of the outbreak of World War I. This exhibition will tell the stories of the 11th Duke and Duchess, Woburn Abbey itself, and people from the surrounding area during the war. You will be able to see original records and letters sent to the Duke and Duchess in the Entrance to the Abbey, and find out what it was like to be trained at the local garrison or treated in the Woburn Military Hospital in the North Court.

If you are in the Ypres area, there are a number of cemeteries and monuments.
