Winter Wonderland and busy Tube Services Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 November

From today's TFL Bulletin-
On Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 November, the Central, Jubilee and Piccadilly lines in central and east London are expected to be exceptionally busy.

This is due to planned engineering work by Network Rail for HS2, Heathrow Airport Ltd and some works to sections of the Elizabeth and Piccadilly lines, as well as an increase in people travelling due to a number of large events taking place across this weekend.

While services will be busy all day, the busiest times are expected to be from 10:00 until 21:00 on Saturday, and from 15:00 until 21:00 on Sunday.

To avoid having to wait to enter stations, you may find travelling outside of the busiest times or using alternative routes quicker and more comfortable. This includes walking to your destination or using local buses.
Winter Wonderland-All visitors to Hyde Park Winter Wonderland will require a timed entry ticket and are encouraged to book these ahead of their visit.

If you have tickets for this weekend then Piccadilly, Central and Jubilee lines services to/from Winter Wonderland are expected to be exceptionally busy as stated above. To keep everyone safe, there will be certain times and places where short-term measures such as queueing, changes to the way you enter and exit a station or road closures may be introduced. You're advised to plan ahead and leave more time for your journey.

The nearest Tube stations are Green Park (Jubilee, Piccadilly and Victoria lines) and Knightsbridge (Piccadilly line) but these are expected to be extremely busy. Stations may be closed or exit-only at busy times. For a quieter journey, travel to/from Bond Street, which is within a 15-minute walk of Hyde Park, Paddington or Victoria which are within a 20 minute walk of the park.

The work at Heathrow referred to is another full closure of the Piccadilly Line between Heathrow T2/3 and 5 only (the rest of the line is still running). There is also no Heathrow Express or Elizabeth Line all weekend due to construction work at Old Oak Common.

So much for spontaneity for those just wanting to do a quick walk through while out strolling. I wonder whose brilliant idea that was. Glad I visited it on previous visits and don’t need to go back. I will admit that it does get very busy and crowded.
