We are flying out of Heathrow late in the afternoon on a Saturday but would like to spend the day in Windsor. Any suggestions for what to do with our luggage? I thought I had seen a posting about a car service that would keep our luggage then transport us to Heathrow for our flight. Prior to that we are staying in London, and could just take the train and get picked up in Windsor. Our luggage is the issue.
There's no place to check luggage at the Windsor station, unfortunately. But Windsor Castle entrance is right across the street. If you just want to see the castle, my understanding is that you must check bags when you go through airport-type security to enter the grounds. See "practical information" on the website. I haven't done this but it might work well for you.
Touring the castle can take several hours, so you may not have more time to spend in the town before going on to the airport. But you'll need somewhere else for the bags if you do something besides visit the castle. I don't know about the car service you're referring to, but it seems like a plausible service to offer.
Thanks for the reply. We are early risers so we might just head to Heathrow on the Express and leave bags, and then head to Windsor.
