Now that Queen Elizabeth is primarily in residence, how frequent is the changing of the guard in April-May, 2022? I've heard the guards wear kilts, but is that only in the summer?
As of now the changing of guards are on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturdays at 11:00am, weather permitting.
Any reservation needed for changing of Guard, or just show up? It's been many years since I last visited London.
Thanks
from the website of Windsor Castle,:
The ceremony can be watched by Castle visitors on Thursdays and Saturdays. The guards arrive at the Castle just before 11:00, but the schedule can change, check the British Army website for details. The guards march through Windsor town into the Castle, where the guard change takes place. To watch the full ceremony inside the Castle you will need to purchase an admission ticket.
note that that is only twice week, not the three times a week previously mentioned.
This may change later in the summer.
You can just stand in the town on the route and watch them march past with no ticket at all.
Or you can watch the whole ceremony from near the Green inside the walls if you have a normal Castle ticket.
