Windsor Castle- tower or kitchen tour?

We are buying tickets for Windsor Castle for next month and are deciding between these two tours. We realize it probably comes down to personal preference, but are hoping to get an idea from others who have done these tours what they thought and would they recommend them to others.

Thanks in advance!

We took the tower tour probably 10 years ago, and still remember how much we enjoyed the tour, the perspective from up there and the unique opportunity we had!

I just took the Great Kitchen Tour last week and found it quite interesting—you get to be in areas of the castle that aren’t otherwise seen, and spend time in the kitchen they use for banquets (as opposed to the one for daily meals) and also the pastry kitchen. The guide was informative and I’m glad I went.

I don’t think the kitchen tour was an option all those years ago when I was there. How will you choose between the two? I’d extend my stay. (: Plus I love to watch the changing of the guard in front of the chapel. I love Windsor!

Thanks for your help, christa and KD! I’m still not sure how we’ll decide, both tours sound really interesting. We do have to decide soon though, because we’re going to be there in about two weeks. :)

I hope you enjoy Windsor Castle as much as I did--it was my second visit there, and I really wanted to see Queen Elizabeth II's final resting place, and have another peek at the glorious dolls' house. The Tower sounded quite tempting, if I were solo I'd have chosen that, but this time I had someone with me who was having health issues and throughout our 8 days in London he struggled with stairs everywhere--I felt the Kitchen Tour was the easiest option to add something new to my Windsor experience.
