Windsor Castle and the Changing of the guards

I have tickets for Windsor Castle Thursday morning at 10:30 hoping to see the Changing of the guards at the castle; however, I am having difficulty finding our where to watch the event. We are staying less then a 1/5 mile from the castle and can walk but I do not know where to go exactly. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It takes place in front of St George's Chapel by the horsehoe cloister. There will be crowd control fencing in place, and will be easy to figure out where it happens.

I was there before Covid and my tickets to the Castle were for later in the day. However, I was on the street leading to the Castle when I heard a band and it was playing and marching toward the castle to take part in the changing of the guard. I stood and watched it go by. They have a military band from a different area of Great Britain each day I think. I was very glad I got to see at least some of the pageantry. Great Britain is so great at that.

I watched the parade of the new guard on the way to the castle and the old guard returning. Easy to find a good views from the street. I got there a bit early and found a spot on the railing of the elevated porch in front of the Borough Museum on the High Street. Great band music and marching both coming and going. I've watched videos of the actual change ceremonies and that looks like a hot, boring time, with no chance for a short person to see much of anything.

Hi Judy! My husband and I were just at Windsor Castle for the Changing of the Guard last weekend. As was recommended, it happens close to St. George's and trust me, it's very easy to find. There will be fences up that make it clear and there are plenty of staff around to help you find your way. It's such fun, enjoy your trip!

"They have a military band from a different area of Great Britain each day I think."

Normally a band from one of the Household Division regiments (Grenadier Guards, Coldstream Guards, Scots Guards, Irish Guards, Welsh Guards and Household Cavalry) and occasionally other such as the RAF, Royal Navy and Commonwealth forces (Australia, Canada etc).
