Windsor Castle

I’m planning on getting tickets for the Windsor Castle tour. The day I’ll be there is also when they will have changing of the guards at 11. What is a good time to schedule the tour? If it’s not an official tour guide, can we schedule 11, watch the ceremony and then go inside the castle? Is there a limit on how long you can be inside?

You'll schedule an entry time for Windsor Castle. You'll go thru the security barriers and then get an audio guide. I would schedule entry for 10A which will give you time to get in, get your audio guide and walk to the area near St George's Chapel to see the changing of the guard. I haven't done the change there in a few years but you will want to get there before 11 so you can be close to the barrier.

You are not limited on time in the Castle as there are many things to see.

I love visiting Windsor Castle. It's a great opportunity to watch the changing of the guard in a more up close way. I just want to mention that when you've seen enough, you can move along. You aren't tied to staying the whole time for the entire ceremony. Lots of flexibility. Try to carve out a little time to stroll in Windsor Great Park while visiting!

I don't know if the tour is still offered, but we did an outdoor tour of the top of the castle a number of years ago that was quite interesting!
