Wimbledon

My fiancée and I are planning to go to Wimbledon on our upcoming trip because we’re both big tennis fans. It appears that we can choose to either get a ticket for the museum only, which includes a trip to Centre Court, or we can pay an extra 12 pounds for a 90-minute tour. Does anyone who’s visited have any opinions on whether the tour is worth it? I’m almost more concerned about the extra time with the tour as I am the extra money. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Are your plans during Wimbledon Fortnight when the actual tennis is being played?

We are tennis fanatics, attended Wimbledon in 2018 and are in the lottery for tickets this year (wish us good luck). EVERY aspect of Wimbledon is a platinum class event and we encourage you to take the tour. If you are attending during the tournament then message me for tips on how to Q.

We won’t be there during the fortnight (but good luck on your tickets endeavour). I was thinking of it as a good Saturday afternoon activity after we arrive and get settled at our hotel (we’re by Kensington Palace, which looks like a convenient tube ride away).

Yes, do the tour. It is very much worth it! Like you, my husband and I are great fans of tennis and we enjoyed the tour immensely.

The tube is easy. Take the District line (green) whose destination is Wimbledon but depart the tube at Southfields. It's about a 25 minute walk (what we do) or you can take the 493 bus that departs about every 20 minutes according to Google maps.

Just be sure to arrive on time for your tour. We got to the gate literally 2 minutes late, thanks to an incompetent taxi driver who took us the long way around and then couldn’t locate the All England Tennis Club. The group was gathering with their guide just inside the gate, but the ticket seller would not let us in. Our tennis-playing daughter (runner up in doubles in the State championships) was heartbroken.
