Why is LNER not posting any trains for May 16 and 17 between Edinburgh and York?

I will be traveling between Edinburgh and York on May 16th, and although LNER has posted its timetable for June, they don't have anything scheduled for May 16 and 17.
I checked the national rail website, and they don't list any work for those days in the area.
Does anyone know when the schedule is expected to be released?

Thanks,
Mark

Which means that the trains that do run will be running on the local non electrified line through Lincoln, which is a slower route, and have to be fitted in around local trains.
So there isn't a timescale for timetable release.
Needs crew planning, maybe training on the diverted route, and Network Rail to work out what can be fitted through, also to find out how many road coaches can be hired in. Lots of planning to do.

Thank you. That explains why I didn't see it, as it is much further south than I am going.
Hopefully, it won't be too far off that they post the schedule.
Any ideas for an alternate means of transportation? I looked at National Express, and it's about an 11-hour trip. Not exactly what I want to do on holiday.

Thanks,
Mark

Edinburgh to York is about 7 hrs on National Express coaches

I just rechecked it, and you are correct. The fastest was 7 hrs 14 minutes. OK, so not nearly as bad as a backup. Still not ideal, but other than leaving the day before and paying for an extra night in a Hotel as I already pre-paid my stay in Edinburgh with no refunds that is the best option I guess.

Thanks,
Mark

The other train options are-
1. (which would need to be booked as 3 tickets) is-
Edinburgh to Carlisle (Avanti West Coast) d 0852, Carlisle a 1005,
Carlisle to Leeds (Northern- via Settle and Carlisle line d 1058 Leeds a 1338
Leeds d 1351 (and frequent, both Transpennine and Northern) York a 1413

At the moment Northern are 2 weeks off opening bookings for Legs 2 and 3. To be honest I would just book at Leeds for leg 3. But wait for advance bookings for Leg 2, and you should get it for £10.50, rather than full fare of £38.50.

Or 2. Edinburgh to Manchester Pic d 0812, Manchester 1126 , Manchester 1158 York 1336- both on Transpennine (2 tickets)
Or 3. Edinburgh 0812 Preston 1045, Preston 1144 York 1357 on Northern (that is the cheapest route at £12 + £10- to Preston you can book now, Preston to York opens in 2 weeks time.

VAP, thanks for posting that link. As it happens I thought I had a reservation on May 17 on LNER from York to London. It seems it is now booked for the 19th which is the day I fly home, lol. So….will try to work something out.

Again, thanks to Mark for posting this and VAP for the link.

From York you could book Cross Country at 44 minutes past the hour, 70 minute journey to Sheffield, then a Midland Main Line train to St Pancras.

Avanti, TPE and Northern what could possibly go wrong? Other than its an inordinately long way around. If LNER and Lumo are not running get the coach it really is as simple as that.

This is another problem which has gone way out of context. The OP's journey is north of the work site. Trains will be running over his section.
He never needed to be looking at coaches, and travelling the day before with a new hotel. That is a very heavy over reaction, which I tried to humour.
As I have said before people are too hung up on booking too far ahead. Just wait and have patience. Good advance fares will still be available even a week or two ahead.
The same is true for Pam. Wait for timetable release. If thats a week or two beforehand so be it. Some through trains will run, advance fares will be issued at that time. But if certainty is wanted now book the Midland route, you don't need to.
For the record the much lauded LNER were as much headless chickens yesterday as any other company, when a fairly minor line issue snowballed into a total line closure between Edinburgh and Newcastle.
And by the way, if you have to pay full price on the East Coast Line, it's not the end of the world as that line has a current experiment where single full price fares are half the return, not the traditional 10 pence difference.

I want to thank you all for giving me options. It's nice to know what is out there.
Never having traveled on trains in the UK, I have no idea how things work.
I had a major issue with the trains in Paris in 2018 and have no plans to go through that again.

Thank you,
Mark

@markrb12- LNER have not yet published their timetable for May 16, but Cross Country trains have. They have an hourly service between Edinburgh and York, and (especially for Cross Country) the fares are very keen at the moment- at £38.80 for about half their trains that day.
For travelling before mid Afternoon that is about as good as you are going to get, even if you wait for LNER release.
So if you are looking for certainty now that might interest you.

Mark,

LNER have now opened bookings for May 16 and May 17- interestingly LNER are about £5 cheaper than Cross Country on certain trains at £33.60, to York

Of wider interest to others timings, bookings and fares are now there for the whole route to London Kings Cross.

This is another one where I have been monitoring the matter to a satisfactory conclusion.

Thank you.

I booked it and got the £33.60 price as it just happened to align with the time I wanted to go.

Good news about the strikes being called off. I hear that they will meet again in mid May to vote on whether to go back on strike or not, but hopefully they won't and if they do then hopefully after I leave on the 28th of May or at least after I get to London on the 23rd.

Thanks again,
Mark
