White Cliffs of Dover

I'm am looking to get a great view of the White Cliffs of Dover and I was advised (on this Forum) to go to Seven Sisters and a place called Cuckmere Haven. My question is, were do I park my car ? Is there a substantial walk from parked car to the trail that runs along the coastal edge ?

Dover is nowhere near Cuckmere, albeit there are chalk cliffs there. There are a couple of car parks at Cuckmere Haven that you can't miss and it's a gentle walk down the valley to the sea.

There are a few small access points to the cliff top, but these don't have any dedicated parking, just on the road and they are difficult to find without a map and involve a 20 + minute walk. The cliff top is visible at Beachy Head where there is some parking, but this gets very busy at weekends in the summer.

The best views of the cliffs are from the ferry from France.

The problem with the White Cliffs of Dover, is that they can only be seen properly from the sea. This is their emotional and patriotic connection, they are the last thing you see when leaving England, and the first thing you see when returning (or was, until they built the Channel Tunnel).

There is a path along the top of the cliffs, see here: https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/the-white-cliffs-of-dover/features/walking-on-the-white-cliffs-of-dover
The cliffs are in two parts, east and west of Dover. A good place to start is St Margarets at Cliffe, north of Dover.
See this map, car park is marked with a blue "P": https://www.bing.com/maps/?mkt=en-gb&v=2&cp=51.14~1.37&lvl=14&sp=Point.51.14_1.37_White%20Cliffs%20of%20Dover&sty=s

The Seven Sisters are a similar set of cliffs which can, due to the curve of the coast, be seen better from land.
See this Wikipedia article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seven_Sisters,_Sussex
And this map, There is a "P" to show parking: https://www.bing.com/maps/?mkt=en-gb&v=2&cp=50.76~0.16&lvl=14&sp=Point.50.76_0.16_Seven%20Sisters,%20Sussex&sty=s

Seven Sisters is not Dover. I suspect the reason you were advised to go there is that when you see the white cliffs “of Dover” on a film, you’re probably actually seeing the Seven Sisters, where the white cliffs are much more impressive than the actual ones at Dover (however Dover rhymes with “over” so fits the song better...)

The view from Cuckmere Haven will give you the lovely white cliffs view that you’re probably after but it’s not Dover!

Google Seven Sisters Country Park for more details on parking.

We were there in November. We thought of going to the 7 sisters but it was far from Dover and we were at the end of a long trip. We decided just to see them near the Dover Castle. Took a small hike and think we got good views and did not feel let down.

Go to see the seven sisters if you have time but the cliffs can be enjoyed closer to Dover if that is where you will be.
