Which train station in Manchester?

We're staying in Manchester one night before flying home on Oct. 28. I'm considering the Manchester Airport Hotel Premier Inn located at M56 / J6 South, Runger Lane, Wilmslow Rd. Manchester Airport, Manchester M90 5DL, because it's cheap and only 2 miles from the airport (we have a 9:00am flight the next morning so need to be at the airport at the ungodly hour of 6:00am).

I'm looking on the Virgin Trains website and it gives a list of stations in Manchester: Manchester, Airport, Central Zone, Oxford Road, Piccadilly, Victoria, Swinton, etc. Does anyone know which of these is closest to this hotel? We will probably take a taxi because we'll have all our luggage, unless the station is close enough for walking, but I'd rather choose a station closer instead of farther away.

The closest station will be the Airport itself. Probably the best way to go is to contact the hotel to enquire about transportation, as most hotels promoted as serving airports have their own shuttle services that will probably be cheaper than taxi.

When I look at the Virgin trains route map, it does not show Manchester airport. Wilmslow is just a couple of miles from your hotel by the airport. The airport station is at the terminal, but your hotel is on the other side of the runways from the terminal.
Edit. If you choose Manchester airport, Virgin will route you to Manchester Picadilly, then change trains and backtrack to the airport. If you choose Wilmslow, there are direct trains from London Euston at 40 past the hour, so you will save time and money by going there. It does not look like the Premier has free shuttle service to the terminal, and it is still a couple of miles anyway

Thank you, Philip and Sam, for your quick responses. Do either of you happen to have a hotel recommendation? I guess as long as this place has a shuttle, it's fine to stay there. We could also have the hotel call a taxi if the shuttle is too expensive, but for a two-mile journey I can't imagine the rates will be very high for either.

Thanks for the link, Emma. I couldn't tell from the hotel's website if they even had a shuttle, and they don't provide an e-mail address where I could get my questions answered. I may more research other hotels.

If its me, I book the Premier Inn. No frills, but clean, safe, and comfortable. You are close enough to the airport that even a standard taxi shouldnt be that expensive.

The hotel books transfers through Wythenshawe Cars - which you can book at the hotel, per the link above.

The closest station to the hotel looks to be the Airport Station itself.

Emma and Tom, thank you for your reassurance. I realize I'm overthinking this and thus worrying unnecessarily. I'll book the Premier hotel.
