Which Premier Inn (Victoria, Blackfriars, County Hall or other) in London?

We are a family of 2 adults and 2 kids looking to book a Premier Inn for our 3-day London visit thanks to this site's recommendations! We are going between the Victoria, County Hall and Blackfriars locations and wondering if you can shed some light as to some differences between the three hotels (especially between the County Hall and Waterloo as they are in the same area). Thank you!

So...a little outside your actual question, so hope it's useful. We actually stayed in a family room at the Blackfriar's location a few years ago with our two kids. The family room (which was pretty much wall-to-wall beds) was a fine base, not luxurious but clean and affordable, and hey, kids, you're in London. We were walking distance to St. Paul's and the Millenium Bridge, and not far from the Tower, as all things go. We were VERY close to Blackfriar's tube station, which would have been very handy if it hadn't been closed for work when we were there. (My bad for not researching such a possibility.)

Have a GREAT time. Our kids really loved London, it was such a great first European destination for them.

I find it useful to look at exact locations on satellite view to see what the area looks like. You will see that the County Hall location is right next to the green space of the Jubilee Gardens, and closer to the river than the Waterloo hotel.

I say the County Hall one is a better old cation for walking. The Thames Path (pedestrian path) gives you great views across the river to some of London’s most iconic sights. Walk a bit upriver (turn left when you reach the path) for views of the Elizabeth Tower (Big Ben) and the beautiful Parliament buildings. (Note that the path can be quite crowded in the area around the London Eye). Turn right (downriver) and after passing under the Hungerford Bridge you will come to a number of restaurants lining the path, including family-friendly choices like Wagamama and Giraffe. Keep going and you will pass lots of interesting sites, such as outdoor bookseller and a cover skate park.

For crossing the river, we prefer the Golden Jubilee pedestrian bridges attached on either side of the Hungerford Bridge, ad the Millennium Bridge further down. The Westminster Bridge will take you right to the Elizabeth Tower, but the wide sidewalk can be very crowded, and there is no separation from the traffic.

I will add that we like the area JoAnne suggested (Blackfriars) a lot. It is close to sites such as St. Paul’s, tower Bridge, and the Tower of London, and the City of London with street names that were familiar to me from my childhood reading. Also right on the path of the No. 15 bus which runs east-west between Trafalgar Square and the Tower of London. It can be slow, but it is a fun way to get around, especially if you score a seat upstairs on the double-decker. Your kids will like it much more than the Tube.

@joAnne & @Lola These are such helpful replies, thank you so much! I have now included Blackfriars as an option- I was thinking it was too far away from the "centre" but what you say makes sense- I so appreciate your reviews as it is our first visit to Europe (then off to Paris for a few days!)- thank you!!

And OP if you choose the Blackfriar Location be sure to visit the gorgeous Art Deco Blackfriar Pub which is a across the road from Blackfriar Station. I especially appreciate the distinct difference in architectural looks. Go at night to see what I mean.

Also close to the Blackfriar PI is the venerable Rising Sun pub. Not to mention you’ll be close to Guildhall.
Research if you’d like tour inside. Place is often used for filming.

Two couples did youtube videos of their stay at Premier Inn County Line and Premier Inn Waterloo. I suggest you take. a look.

The videos looked at both the standard room and the plus room.

I found it helpful and informative

County Hall is closer to Westminster Bridge. Waterloo is closer to Waterloo station. They are just blocks apart.

I have stayed at Waterloo and really enjoyed it. It was good value and good location.
