Have a look at the Lancaster Hall. V centrally located and easy to access multiple tube lines.

I was thinking of the same question, particularly for YHA Oxford Street or London Central.
merlvin,
I tend to use HI Hostels quite often, as I've found they're well run and the facilities are fairly consistent from one location to the next. They have many properties world wide and often multiple properties in larger cities. Having a HI Hostels membership provides slightly better rates and preferred booking over non-members.
They have several Hostels in London as shown on their website. YHA is the same as HI as far as I know.
I would make sure to go with YHA/HI hostels. They have a fairly strict set of standards that must be maintained for hostels to be part of their network and you will be assured of a level of quality. Other hostels might be equally good but read reviews carefully! I've ended up in some doozy's over the years. My favorite hostel in London is the one in Holland Park but, unfortunately, it has recently closed. It was in a beautiful Jacobean mansion. Too bad!
