Which garden to see Blenheim Palace, Kiftsgate, Hidcote, Batsford or Sezincote in the Cotswolds?

We are staying Moreton-in-Marsh and can’t decide which gardens to see. Batsford Arborteum is close by but the other others seem impressive. Thoughts?

I have only been to Blenheim Palace on your list: I would say that while the grounds are sprawling and beautiful, the key attraction is probably the palace itself.

I would agree with Balso about Blenheim. OTOH, Hidcote is world famous for its gardens for good reason. If you are a gardener, this one is memorable.

If I had to choose just one it would be Hidcote, however when I went there was no cafe which is usually part of the charm of National Trust properties. I may or may not have a scone at each NT property I visit purely for research purposes!! FYI - the best NT cafe I have been to is at Corfe Castle, Dorset.

However as you are in Moreton in the Marsh, I don’t think you would be disappointed with Batsford, it is more of an arboretum and is stunning in Autumn and has a lovely cafe and shop. Sezincote is just across the way from Batsford but do check the opening times. As previously stated Blenheim is more about the palace.

I would second Hidcote. We engaged a private driver who took us to Hidcote from MiM and returned for us at an arranged time. When we were there in 2023, they did have a cafe.

Hidcotes website states it does have a Cafe. We didn't use it, but did spend time (and money) in the gift shop.

Kiftsgate is only a few minutes from Hidcote Gardens and is very different. The two can easily be combined and complement each other.

Hidcote and Kiftsgate are almost next door to each other so be sure to visit on a day when BOTH are open. They are both wonderful.
Sezincote is also well worth a visit but I will also recommend the nearby > https://bourtonhouse.com garden.

Batsford Arboretum would be the one to miss in my opinion if short on time. However, I am not saying don’t visit if you have time.

My wife and I are long time members of the National Trust who own Hidcote. We visit frequently - another visit this week is on the cards.

Sometimes the Barn Kiosk is closed but I have never known Winthrop's Café to be shut. Maybe there was a temporary equipment failure or utility issue? Or maybe a staff member called in sick or had had an accident?

I'm sorry you didn't get to collect a scone. Maybe the Barn kiosk might have had one to take into the courtyard.

Here is the description of the eating and shopping facilities at Hidcote. Don't open it if you don't want to be tempted. https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/visit/gloucestershire-cotswolds/hidcote/eating-and-shopping-at-hidcote

All the information is wonderful. Have decided to combine Hidcote Gardens and Kiftsgate for a full day of beauty! Your ideas and links have really helped. Will also try to walk around the gardens very near Moreton-in-Marsh. Found out they have a Falconry Center right there too. Excited!!!!!
Thanks so much
