I've never been to Oxford so I'm not sure where to stay. Would prefer a location close to tourist attractions but relaxing after a long flight. Proximity to bus station and car rental a plus. Any suggestions?
What is your budget? That would be helpful. The Randolph is a great hotel - a little spendy though.
The closest hotel to the bus station is the Eurobar. So close you will feel you are in it. However, relaxing it certainly isn't.
As said, need some idea of budget as to whether you would be looking for something like the Randolph or the Oxford Backpackers ...
We stayed in one of the colleges. Interesting experience. There's a website I don't have handy through which you can make a booking.
Something in between the Randolph and a backpackers hostel. Perhaps 3-4 stars? Clean, twin room with en suite preferred. Breakfast included would be nice but not necessary. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Book colleges through Speedybooker. We stayed at one in 2015. It was slightly out of the way - one of few options available which allowed kids - but very comfortable.
We stayed at the Lakeside Guest House last time we were in Oxford. It's right on the main road leading into the city center from the south. About a 10 minute walk to Christchurch College, which is on the southern edge of the center. If you don't want to walk the bus stops right outside the front door! It's a great little place to stay with a very good breakfast, clean rooms, and friendly host.
