I am putting together plans to go to London next June (2020) with my husband and 14 y/o son. I have been to London about 20 yrs ago (eeek! so long ago!) and I stayed in a hotel in Bloomsbury. My husband and son have never been to London. This time, I would like to rent an apartment for the week (or so). What areas do people recommend for first timers? Cost is not a consideration right now- just wanting feedback. Thank you!!!
Kensington area, Covent Garden, and Victoria.

Since you've been you should recall that with the London Underground, Overground and buses you can get virtually everywhere.
Do you want a bit of quiet or to be right in the thick of things. Do you want a neighborhood that will be vastly different that what it was 20 years ago, even 10 years ago?
My neighborhood recommendations are Bloomsbury (where you stayed before), Nottinghill, Holland Park, Marylebone, Belgravia, Chelsea, Kensington, Mayfair and the "hip" Shoreditch.
A few years back (2016) stayed in a Holland Park two bedroom flat. No clue if still available but it was an AirBnb property. 3 block walk to Portobello Road Market. 5 blocks to Holland Park Tube station. Quiet residential area on Clarendon Road.

South Bank or Southwark.
If you haven't been there for 20 years you will probably be surprised how much it has been renovated.
Personally I like to be within a mile of the circle line, but as others mentioned you can get anywhere with tube or bus.
Thank you for all your advice!! Looking into a quiet area that is easy to get to all of the sites.
