Arriving in Bath in 2 days and may have a problem with current booking. Awaiting a response but I am trying to be proactive and have a back up plan. Looking for recommendations for accommodations in Bath center with parking around $200 per night. Thank you in advance.
The Rick Steve S England tour put us up at the Henrietta House, a member of Radisson Individuals
27-29, 33 Henrietta Street, Bath.
It was centrally located, 15 walk minutes to transit station and I'm guessing its in your budget. Clean but small. Good breakfast. In an old Georgian property. I dont know about parking.
Spent 2 nights at the Hampton Inn in May. Can recommend plus it’s walkable to most things. We arrived by train, so I don’t know what the parking situation is—I’m sure their website has details.
You will not a find a hotel in central Bath with free parking. That will always come at an additional cost even if the hotel has its own car park. Your budget is low for Bath. I would do a search on booking.com and also look at chains like Premier Inn and Travelodge which you book via their own websites.
There is long stay car parking at Bath at the Charlotte Street car park for £19-£25 per 24hours if you don’t mind having the parking in a separate location. The exact cost depends on the eco friendliness of the car which the payment machine calculates based on the car registration number. I’d expect most hire cars to be low emissions.
Don't know about parking, but have you looked at the Premier Inn in Bath. It is just down the hill from the Abbey & Baths in a very pleasant neighborhood. I stayed there before a tour in 2022 and was very satisfied. I have mixed feelings about the Henrietta Hotel which was the hotel the tour used. The staff were not friendly, they had 2 tour groups checking in at same time and would not allow us to start check in process until their on the dot open time. This created a very crowded, chaotic check in process. The room was small, but sufficient. The bathroom was very nice. However, I noticed small things were not being maintained. For example the windows had shutters, not curtains, and several shutters were missing so you had to dress/undress in the bathroom to have privacy.
Thank you all for your suggestions. Still trying to sort out the original booking.
We loved the Brooks Guesthouse that is near the city center. Parking was not right next to the B&B, but about a 1/4 of a mile away.
Had a wonderful free breakfast and accommodations were excellent.
Also, it was near the Scallop Shell Restaurant (best fish and chips ever).
As the first responder noted, the Henrietta House was used on the Best of England tour which we just finished. We checked in 3 days early and the location and reasonable cost was perfect for us. The morning breakfast is good, and the room was very comfortable. There is a lift, but it's very tiny and really slow, FYI, in case your party would prefer not to take the stairs. We loved everything about Bath!
I stayed at Brindley's. It's street parking from what I recall but fabulous.
The best place to stay in Bath is actually Bristol. :o)
Funny, jphbucks, I had a guy on the train to Bath, then Bristol, who told me the same thing. Haven't really been to Bristol. I guess I'd better put it on my list.
Thank you all. We actually ended up in Bathford. I appreciate everyone’s help.
Where in Bathford, if you don't mind me asking--name of the hotel or B&B? We would love to stay in Bathford next trip. Just for something different. Thanks!
We were there a couple weeks ago and absolutely loved our B&B that we found on booking dot com.
It is called Grosvenor Villa. They probably have their own site. Free parking on the street is easy to find, 20-25 minutes walking through parks and along canals to the abbey. Might be a hair over your budget but breakfast is worth the price of admission and makes up for it. And the host will have money-saving tips for you; he did for us.
Bath is amazing.
Sam321,
We ended up staying at Linhay Cottage #4. 2 bed, 21/2 bath lovely, modern, spacious delightful 2 floor unit. Booking.com lists it as Bathford, though actually it is in Box. 4-5 miles from Bath. Lovely outdoor patios with tables and furniture. The ground were beautiful with Apple trees. An Uber into Bath was approx 15 - 18 lbs. what started out as a major headache with Booking.com turned into our best accommodation in Ireland, Scotland and England so far.
