Where to stay for three days in York and transportation tips

My husband and I will be in York September 15, 16 and 17.
I'm asking for advice on where to stay because he has some difficulty with long walks. He has to pace himself and if we have a truly central hotel to the sights, he can spend more time seeing them and not expending energy getting to them
Right now I have reservations at a small B and B called The Farthings, but it may be too far away. I can cancel without penalty
That B and B is very reasonably priced. We like the Rick Steves way of traveling
We are dropping our rental car off at the train station. And leaving by train on September 18th.

We'd like to not exceed the $200 a night range BUT if the location is excellent, we may go ahead and spend more.

Is that three nights, starting Sept. 15?

You cannot get a much better location than the Dean's Court hotel, right across from the York Minster. you could arrive there by taxi from the station.

Their rate on Saturday night is high, as York is a popular destination for weekend getaways (and hen parties, which we saw in abundance). But Sunday and Mondaynare close to your budget at £170. ( that is the prepaid advance rate, non-refundable).

Here's another vote for the Dean Court Hotel. The location is great and some of their rooms face Yorkminster.

Here's another vote for Dean's Court. Perfect location, comfy rooms and view of York Minster are wonderful... especially at night.

Thanks so much to all of you for your input. I checked out the B and B and it looks lovely as well. We are staying in some nice B and B's along the way, so I decided that the Dean Court hotel right next to the Minster was the perfect place for us!

The Minster Hotel York

This small hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the rain station. It is located close to the walled city and restaurants. Price was way less than $200 per night. Breakfast is extra, but great and not expensive.

The hotel has parking in the rear if you drive a car.
You can see the city easily on foot. The Minster is amazing. Don't miss walking the ancient walls and the National Railway Museum.
