Where to stay for Goodwood in July

Hello travelers! Our family of 5 will be in England this July and part of our trip will be to attend Goodwood from July 12-15. I am looking to book a house nearby. There does not seem to be much available in Chichester, so looking at Selsey and Bognor Regis. I would appreciate any advice from those who have traveled to this part of England.

Thanks!

I'd take a look at booking.com since you're planning to visit at the time of a special event that may be filling lodgings in the area. Booking.com will list places in the area that do have space available; rates look quite high, generally. Suggestions you receive here may already be full.

I would widen my search to Littlehampton and Worthing, maybe even as far as Brighton, or to Portsmouth in the other direction.
I suspect you are several months too late to find the best properties close by.

But all the above towns/ cities are in "commuting" distance.

The other problem may be that people are staying for the week, especially if you want a house rather than a hotel.

You're looking for accommodation for the Festival of Speed which is a hugely popular event and places are booked well in advance. Previous posters have experienced a lot of difficulty in previous years looking for accommodation so you'll have to be prepared to extend your location search, Selsey and Bognor Regis will have been snapped up and even further afield such as Portsmouth will be difficult. As well as looking at locations along the A27/M27 corridor also consider places north of Goodwood such as Midhurst, Haslemere or Petworth and northwest such as Waterlooville, Clanfield and Petersfield. Presumably you'll have a car?
