Where to find (maybe pet?) a woolly coo

I have always loved woolly coos since I was a child, but I’ve only ever seen them from the backseat of the car in passing. Does anyone know of a place like a petting zoo or farm that one could get closer to these adorable fuzzballs? Hopefully somewhere near Cambridge where I will be staying this winter. Any ideas are appreciated!

It's a hairy breed of cattle from the Scottish Highlands. Which is where I'd go if I wanted to see them.

I too love highland coos. I have struggled to see them in scotland. But i have seen them at our local scottish highland games in Pleasanton, ca. The ranchers bring adults and calfs. What a wonderful experience for me yrly. I just love them also.

I'm not sure if this is close enough to Cambridge for you - between London and Oxford (about 2 hrs by car). This farm has them and you can pet them, although I assume it's mostly children I'm sure they wouldn't mind an adult. I just found this by googling 'highland cows in England', maybe with a little more research you can find something closer to Cambridge.

I like them too and have seen them in Scotland, New Zealand, and in several US states.

I went on a Hairy Coo day tour from Edinburgh. We didn't pet any, but we did get to feed one. Take a look here.

Ooh, I've been to those games. I'll have to look for these animals!

We saw plenty in our travels around the Highlands of Scotland this summer. Perhaps you should plan a trip to Scotland during your stay this winter. But I do have to say that the ones we saw were not the petting type or in a zoo. Our guide warned us about getting too close.

Perhaps Marsh Farm just south of Cambridge. It is a petting zoo of farm animals where you can also feed the animals.
I'm pretty sure that is a Woolley Coo above the box that says "Book Online". (or may be a Highlands.)

You could email them and ask if they have a Woolley Coo.

"Where to find a Woolly Coo" sounds like the title of an episode of the TV show "Last of the Summer Wine".
Maybe I'm the only one old enough here to remember that show.

(Also love "Keeping Up Appearances")

Rebecca, I doubt you are the only one here old enough to remember that show, since it just went off the air eight years ago! But being a British sitcom, I've never heard of it.

I loved “Last of the Summer Wine” ! Thanks for reminding me. My favourite now is “Still Open All Hours” with David Jason. Brilliant.

I will agree with Emma here. I had a friend that raised "Highlanders." The bulls, though small by cattle standards, can be unpredictable, and a bit more aggressive than other breeds. Don't get between one and a fence or a wall. :)

Cows are curious - and Highlands are curious to look at too..... do be careful around them though. If there is a sign on a field saying beware of the bull take that seriously too.

There are cows which graze in Cambridge - good fun to see as you enter the city - but I've never seen a Highland there.

I never saw a hairy coo, I never hope to see one,
But I can tell you anyhoo, I'd rather see than be one.

Sorry
