I need to buy a simple inexpensive camera. My expensive camera, that I could never figure out how to use, is at home and the simple one I know how to use, died today in London. :( Secondly, does anyone know where I can purchase a throw away (for lack of a better word) wire-less printer? I will be leaving the printer in our rented apartment when we leave London. I can't seem to find a brick and mortar store to purchase these two things. When I look on-line I am being directed to an on-line store. I need these two things today. Thanks in advance for any help you can give.
I'm not sure where you are but if you look for you nearest Argos or Curries/PC World you should be able to get both from either of these shops. You could also try your local supermarket (super store not local).
John Lewis on Oxford Street has an electronics department with these items. It's up on the 3rd or 4th floor.
It's a lovely department store in general and a pleasure to visit. Check out their home goods too while you're there!
They're open from 9:30 am - 8 pm during the week, different hours on Sat/Sun

Nearest to Bond Street tube, also near Oxford Circus tube, and there are several buses that go down that stretch of road. Map and directions are on the page linked above.
So sorry about your camera!

Marge, did you find what you needed today?.
Kim-- I was able to get a printer. We walked from our rented flat on Glasshouse Yard to a place near the National Portrait Gallery to pick up our London Pass. (I'm not sure but I think the walk Google estimated at 39 minutes took us close to 3 hours.) On our walk we passed a store called Ryman Stationary and on the way back to our flat we purchased the printer there. We then promptly took a cab home and took a nap!! :) lol. We did not pass any store I felt up to going into to look for a camera so I bought 2 disposables at a Boots. (Had a bad experience with disposables when we went to Norway so I hesitated to buy them.) We are going to go to the store you suggested to look for a camera. I googled it and saw there was a garden on the roof so i would have gone to the store just to see that!! Thank you for sharing the store info with me. I also now want to go see the kitchen of the future! Also, to everyone else thank you for taking time out of your busy day to share information with me. It was all useful and much appreciated!
I just love going to John Lewis -- they also have a handy cafeteria that's nice for a bite without having to go through the whole restaurant schtick (I know part of vacation's pleasure is going to nice restaurants, but sometimes I don't feel like taking the time for the whole ordeal).
At least you got half of what you needed yesterday.
Good luck and enjoy your day today!
