Where to buy 7 day paper travel card in zone 2

Hi,

What are the national rail station in Zone 2 I can buy 7 day paper travel card in Zone 2 (so we can take advantage of the 2 for 1 deal)?

We are planning to stay at DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel London - Chelsea. Do Imperial Whart rail station and West Bromption rail station sell 7 day paper travel card? Or is Clapham Junction Rail station the closest one in Zone 2?

thanks,
Jenny

Overground managed stations do not sell paper 7-day travelcards any more so Clapham Junction would be the place to go as it is managed by South West Trains.

It does make me smile though that Hilton are pretending that hotel is in Chelsea, when it is actually in Sands End. It is actually on the part of the former site of the Imperial Gasworks. Do take a stroll through Pineapple Park.

Thanks!

Is Sands End a safe/nice area?

Also regarding the travelcard, is there ticket machine available to buy the 7 day paper travel card at Clapham Junction? or do we need to purchase at the window?

If we have to purchase at the window, can i purchase additional travel cards for family members? or do we all have to be present when buying the travel cards (since it requires photo)?

Every person needs to get their photocard from the window. I do not know if, after the photocard is obtained, a 7-day season can be found on the machine; but since you are at the window already it makes sense to get the season ticket there.

Sands End was traditionally a working class area - after all not many rich people wanted to live near to the gas works, power station and petrol depot that all used to be in this area and provide the local employment (some gas holders remain). However, like most of Fulham it has been gentrified beyond recognition and the property prices are nearly the equal of such places as Parsons Green. My grandmother lived in Sands End for 40 years (in a building that used to be on the site of Pineapple Park) and some relatives still do, so there are some of the 'old-time' residents still about.

Public transport in the area is a bit thin, with only the 391 and C3 buses in addition to the Overground, although the District Line isn't far away in Parsons Green and Walham Green and other buses along the Kings Road - and boats in the river. Local facilities are also underdeveloped but catching up.

Thanks all!

We are looking for cheaper Hilton property for the first two days of our London stay then we will move to central London area near Green Park for the remaining 6 days....so I think we can deal with this double tree location for 1-2 days even though it is a bit far from the main attraction...

Still trying to decide whether to spend the first two days in London or should we go out of our way to York or Brussels....

thanks,
Jenny

I wouldn't write off staying in a quiet part of London to start with. There are riverside walks on both sides of the Thames, and Bishops Park and Fulham Palace to visit, the latter former home of the Bishop of London being very underrated by visitors to the capital or maybe the locals just want to keep it to themselves. Rooms are small in number, but anyone who likes history or gardens would get something out of it.
