Where are the e-gates located in Heathrow Terminal 3?

I have a short connection at LHR in route to Glasgow. I arrive on American Airlines at Terminal 3 but depart for Glasgow from terminal 5. I understood from reading other forum comments that I need to go through immigrations at Terminal 3 before going to Terminal 5. Everyone has suggested using the e-gate to speed up the process.

Where are the e-Gates located in terminal 3?

After completing the e-gate process, is taking the Heathrow Express to Terminal 5 the quickest option?

Thanks.

Are these flights all on one ticket? Or are you self connecting? If all on one ticket then pop in your details in the heathrow connection tool.

https://www.heathrow.com/connecting-flights.

The short version is that you follow the flight connections signs. You will encounter a passport control point where hopefully the e gates are working otherwise it’s a more manual process. Then there’s a bus between terminals and a security screening at T5. Note you may be able to use this process if self connecting. But you need to be carry on only and have your boarding pass for Glasgow.

If you are self connecting (2 separate tickets) and have checked bags then you will need to claim them first. Then take the Heathrow express, Elizabeth line or the tube to get between terminals. If the first 2 get a ticket for a free ride from one of the ticket machines.

There is a separate passport control point for connecting passengers. Just follow the Flight Connections signs.

If you have a US or Canadian passport you will be ushered first to the egates. You will only see a Border Force officer if there is a problem with your passport being read by the machine.

You must have the boarding pass for the second flight to use the Flight Connections area.

Once through the egates, you will be bussed over to T5. There you will go through security.

Use the link above to get step by step instructions.

There will be plenty of people there to help if you have questions.

By the way, Heathrow suggests a minimum of 90 minutes for the connection.
